| War heroes vow to make list of war criminals, victims of '71 |

Leaders of Sector Commanders Forum, a platform of the sector commanders of the liberation war, yesterday vowed to prepare lists of the war criminals and the victims during the liberation war.
They were speaking at a view exchange meeting with freedom fighters, civil society members, teachers and students on the Mukul Fouz School premises in Mymensingh.
Scores of people from all walks of life from Netrokona, Sherpur, Kishoreganj, Jamalpur, and Tangail thronged the school premises to express their solidarity with the forum leaders.
The forum leaders said the whole nation is now united on the issue of trying the war criminals.
“I want to see that the war criminals are brought to book before I die,” said Kamran Ali who fought under sector no-11 during the liberation war.
“We are united and now it's time to bring the war criminals to justice,” said freedom fighter Ayub Ali of Jamalpur.
“We have taken initiatives to prepare a list of people who fell victim to the Pakistani Army and their collaborators,” said air vice marshal (retd) AK Khandker.
"We are also preparing a list of war criminals according to the statements given by the victims," he said adding that they would compel the government to try the war criminals.
He said the government will have to take initiatives to try the war criminals as they had committed crime against the country and the society.
They urged the people to continue the movement until the war criminals are tried.
Maj Gen (retd) AKM Shafiullah, the commander of sector-11, urged the government to form a special tribunal to try the war criminals.
Maj Gen (retd) CR Dutta, commander of sector-4, Lt Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, Commander of sector-8, Lt Gen (retd) Harun-ur-Rashid, former Army chief, Maj Gen (retd) Amin Ahmed Chowdhury, Akku Chowdhury, Journalist Harun Habib, among others, spoke at the meeting. |
